David L Cook has been a fixture in the music industry since he was five years old. Starting his career as the baby of the Cook Family Singers, he has shared the stage with some of the most iconic entertainers of our time. Entertainers such as, Chubby Checker, Lucille Ball, Bob Hope, Phyllis Diller, Loretta Lynn, George Jones, Johnny and June Cash just to name a very few.
David started writing songs when he was six years old and to date has over 2800 songs in his catalog. Being a juvenile coming up in the industry it sometimes made it necessary for him to write and perform under ghost names and various pseudonyms, many of which he still uses to this day in an effort to preserve his Christian values and family heritage. David has penned songs under ghost names and pseudonyms for such mainstream artists as Ah Ha, Expose’, Spandau Ballet, Lisa Lisa, Paul Davis, Pet Shop Boys and many many more. David has written and performed many television theme songs as well as writing and producing musical scores for various television series. Such work has garnered him an impressive 18 Emmy Award® nominations and 7 wins. He has also been decorated with various other industry honors which include “Christian Entertainer of the Year”, “Male Vocalist of the Year” and “Comedian of the Year.” David has been inducted into three musical halls of fame.
David has recently written and produced songs for legends such as, Gloria Gaynor, Dee Dee Sharp, Chubby Checker, Babbie Mason, David Meece, Christy Sutherland, Kat Williams and Terri Gibbs. He has produced and written album projects for new artists like Marlana VanHoose, Jesse Reece and Maura Boerio.
Today David is still one of the most sought after musical comedians and that is reflected by his hectic tour schedule. In 2011 David became the CEO of the Artists Music Guild which is devoted to helping develop and mold new artists. The Guild’s major goal is helping protect artists from predatory practices found in the industry and avoiding the many pitfalls that David himself experienced. His greatest joy is working with kids and providing continued arts education to the public school and their classrooms.
